Import limits
The file types, sizes and lengths each import accepts: crew lists from Excel, CSV, Word or pasted text, credits videos, and the images and fonts you upload to Files.
There are three ways to bring material into EndCreditsPro: import a list as text, import the credits of a finished film from its video, and upload images and fonts to Files. Each has its own limits, listed here. When a file goes over a limit, it is refused with a message: nothing is cut off silently.
Lists: Excel, CSV, Word or pasted text
In the Data tab, Import credits → Import from text. The guide is Import your crew lists.
| Accepted | |
|---|---|
| Files | .xlsx (Excel), .csv, .docx (Word), and plain text files (.txt, .md) |
| Pasted text | Anything you paste in Paste your credits |
| Not accepted | Older .xls and .doc files, PDF, images. Save them as .xlsx or .docx first, or copy the text and paste it. |
| File size | Up to 10 MB for .xlsx, .csv and .docx |
| Rows | Up to 2,000: data rows across all the sheets of a workbook, rows of a CSV, or paragraphs and table rows of a Word document |
| Text | Up to 500 KB of text once the file is converted (about 500,000 characters). The same limit applies to pasted text and text files. |
How each source is read:
- Excel: every sheet, in order, each under its sheet name. Cells with formulas import the value they show. Empty cells at the end of a row are dropped.
- CSV: comma, semicolon or tab separated, UTF-8 or Latin-1.
- Word: the paragraphs, then the tables.
- Text files are read as if you had pasted them.
You review the result in a preview before anything is added, and you can untick the lines you don’t want. A long workbook can take a few minutes to classify; the progress window shows how far it has got, and Cancel stops it.
If the list is over a limit, split it: import one department or one sheet at a time with the Add the imports to the existing credits mode.
Credits from a finished film (video)
In the Data tab, Import credits → Import from video. The guide is Import from a finished film.
| Accepted | |
|---|---|
| File | An MP4 video file |
| Size | Up to 2 GB during the free beta |
| Length and frame rate | No fixed limit. The file size is what counts. |
| At a time | One video import at a time for the same credits |
The import replaces all the current credits of that title (main titles or end credits) with what it extracts from the video, so use it to start a project, not on credits you’ve already worked on. While it runs, the credits can’t be edited.
Images and fonts (Files)
In the project’s Files page, or in the organization’s files to share them with every project.
| Kind | Formats | Maximum size |
|---|---|---|
| Images (logos, artwork for image blocks) | PNG, JPEG, WEBP, SVG, GIF | 10 MB per file |
| Fonts | TTF, OTF | 20 MB per file |
Fonts in other formats (WOFF, WOFF2, PostScript Type 1) aren’t accepted: ask the type foundry for the TTF or OTF desktop version. Each font file is one weight and style, so upload the Regular and the Bold as two files. Logos with a transparent background are best as PNG or SVG.
